Governor Agbu Kefas Issues Directive on Local Government Security Measures in Taraba State

Jalingo, Taraba State – In a significant development, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has issued a directive to the chairmen of the 16 local government areas, instructing them to prioritize the security of life and property within their jurisdictions. The directive was given during the governor’s inaugural meeting with the newly elected local government council chairmen at the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital.

The meeting, which took place yesterday, addressed the crucial need for heightened security measures at the grassroots level. Governor Kefas underscored the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of residents across the state.

The local government chairmen, who were inaugurated on November 22, 2023, were specifically tasked with actively engaging in efforts to maintain the security of their respective areas. In an interview with journalists, Dr. Babangida Hassan, the permanent secretary of the Bureau of Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs, provided insights into the governor’s emphasis on grassroots welfare and security.

Hassan stated that Governor Kefas expressed a deep commitment to the welfare of the people at the grassroots level, emphasizing that their security remains a top priority. The governor’s directive serves as a wake-up call to the local government chairmen, urging them to remain consistently present in their offices and maintain regular communication with traditional rulers.

“The governor is passionate about the well-being of the people and the development of the people at the grassroots,” remarked Dr. Babangida Hassan. He further highlighted the governor’s call for the chairmen to collaborate closely with traditional leaders to gather security intelligence and preemptively address any potential security challenges within their respective areas.
