Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State paid a visit to Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State at his country home, Sampou, during the festive holidays, marking a significant step towards regional collaboration and development in the South-South zone.
Governor Diri, in a statement, revealed that both leaders engaged in fruitful discussions during the visit and mutually agreed to collaborate on the advancement of Bayelsa and Rivers States. Governor Diri emphasized the importance of reviving the BRACED Commission to enhance regional integration in the South-South.
In his statement, Governor Diri shared:
“I received my dear brother, the Governor of Rivers State, Sir. Siminalayi Fubara, and his entourage today in my country-home, Sampou, on a New Year brotherly visit. It was a fruitful meeting where we both agreed to collaborate on the development of Bayelsa and Rivers States.
“I reminded my colleague of the need to bring back the BRACED Commission to foster our regional integration in the South-South region.
On the political matters in Rivers State, I encouraged my brother Governor to pursue peace and remain focused on his vision for the people of the State. I appreciate Governor Fubara for the New Year and brotherly visit to Bayelsa State. That is the spirit for the season; a season to share love and great wishes. Happy New Year!”
Governor Fubara, sharing his perspective on the visit, stated:
“We paid a New Year’s visit to our brother; Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. @govdouyediri at his country home in Sampou.
“It was rewarding as it availed the opportunity for heart-to-heart talks on improving the relationship between our States.
“It was lighthearted and we have promised to sustain this progress for the benefit of our states.”
