The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has conveyed warm Christmas greetings to Christians across the nation, urging them to draw inspiration from the life of Jesus Christ and incorporate His values of love, peace, unity, and tolerance in their service to both God and the nation.
In a statement released by the national chairman-elect, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, IPAC emphasized the significance of Christmas as it marks the divine birth of Jesus Christ, the redeemer of the world from sin.
IPAC, as the umbrella body for all registered political parties in Nigeria, called on the government at all levels to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to the people, alleviating their hardships. Dantalle stressed the importance of addressing security and economic challenges that hinder progressive governance, urging Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the nation.
The statement highlighted the constitutional mandate, citing section 14 (2)b of the 1999 constitution as amended, which prioritizes the security and welfare of the people as the primary purpose of government.
“As the umbrella body of all registered political parties in Nigeria, IPAC will continue to promote and deepen democracy in Nigeria in the quest for a strong, equitable, prosperous and just democratic nation,” expressed Dantalle.
Similarly, Dantalle, who also serves as the national chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), extended felicitations to Christians in Nigeria and worldwide on the birth of Jesus Christ. The statement from APM emphasized the need for prayers, reflection on the life of Jesus Christ, and the renewal of faith in God and the nation.
APM acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians and called on the federal and state governments to provide adequate palliatives to alleviate the hardship resulting from the removal of fuel subsidies. The party expressed optimism that 2024 would bring the fruits of democracy as elected governments address socio-economic, political, and security challenges.
“As a mass movement, APM will continue to be in the vanguard for good governance and hold elected public officers accountable in the national interest,” concluded the statement.
