The Kano State Government has approved the release of N29 billion to initiate and complete various capital projects across the state. This decision was made during the state Executive Council Meeting, presided over by Governor Abba Yusuf in Kano.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity, the council approved several key expenditures aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public services.
One of the major approvals includes N7.7 billion allocated for the continuation of the dualisation of a 5-kilometre road in each of the 44 Local Government Areas of the state. Additionally, N239 million has been earmarked for the construction of three rural roads: Ja’en Makera-Salanta Gudduba-Unguwar Baizangon Guliya in Gwale, Ajingi, and Kiru/Madobi LGAs.
The council also sanctioned the procurement of 500 relief transformers to be distributed to various communities across the state, amounting to N7.1 billion. Another significant approval was N6.4 billion for the 2024 Constituency Projects.
Further resolutions by the council include the construction of a two-coat surface dressed road from Kwanar Gammawa in Gezawa LGA at a cost of N343 million and the procurement of 20 Toyota Hilux vehicles and one Toyota Bus for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, totaling N819 million.
In addition, N5.3 billion was approved for the construction of rural roads, intervention, and counterpart funds under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Projects. Lastly, N26 million was allocated for the renovation and conversion of offices for the Chairman of the Anti-Phone Snatching Task Force Committee at Coronation Hall.
These substantial investments reflect the state government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and public services for the residents of Kano State.
