Kebbi State Governor Vows to Reconstruct Washed-Away Bridges and Roads in Suru and Maiyama LGAs

Suru, Kebbi State — Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has pledged to reconstruct the damaged bridges and roads in Suru and Maiyama Local Government Areas following the recent floods that have ravaged the region. The governor made this commitment on Tuesday during an inspection tour of the washed-away bridge along the Suru-Kawara-Dakingari road and the rice farms that were destroyed by the floodwaters in Suru LGA.

During the visit, Governor Idris expressed his administration’s determination to provide necessary support to all communities across the state, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure rehabilitation in ensuring the well-being and economic stability of the affected areas.

“The state government will rehabilitate the bridges and reconstruct the roads,” Idris said, addressing the pressing need for restored connectivity in the region. He also highlighted his administration’s ongoing commitment to assisting farmers, a key demographic in Kebbi, to ensure effective food production and bolster food security in the state.

The governor’s visit was met with appreciation from local representatives. Hon. Faruku Maisudan, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Suru Constituency, commended the governor’s swift response to the disaster and his dedication to supporting farmers with the necessary resources to recover from the flood’s impact.
