Lagos, May 21, 2025 — In a move aimed at enhancing strategic business engagement and fostering high-level professional connections, the Lagos State Government has partnered with the Metropolitan African Association (MAA) to launch an initiative focused on executive networking and corporate collaboration.
The partnership, unveiled at a business forum in Victoria Island, seeks to create platforms for knowledge exchange, investment dialogue, and policy engagement between government officials, industry leaders, and global executives with interests in Africa’s economic powerhouse.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, said the collaboration reflects the state’s commitment to positioning Lagos as a premier hub for business leadership and innovation.
“This alliance with MAA is about building bridges—not just between sectors, but between visionaries who shape policy and those who drive enterprise,” she said. “We’re creating a space where ideas can be shared and partnerships forged for the long-term growth of Lagos and beyond.”
The Metropolitan African Association, a pan-African professional network known for its executive outreach across finance, technology, and public policy, praised the Lagos State Government for taking the lead in fostering regional integration through professional engagement.
MAA President, Dr. Tunde Olorunnimbe, described the initiative as “a gateway to cross-border opportunity, mentorship, and thought leadership,” adding that Lagos’ vibrant economy and youth-driven innovation make it an ideal base for the project.
The partnership will feature quarterly networking forums, executive roundtables, and leadership development workshops. It also aims to attract diaspora professionals and investors by showcasing Lagos as a viable destination for enterprise and governance collaboration.
Analysts view the move as part of Lagos’ broader strategy to strengthen its global business reputation while nurturing homegrown leadership that can compete on international platforms. With this initiative, the state hopes to accelerate economic diplomacy, drive high-value partnerships, and reinforce its role as West Africa’s commercial nerve centre.
