Ogbemudia Bassey Osagie, a governorship aspirant under the Labour Party (LP), has expressed profound sorrow and condemnation in response to the tragic armed robbery attack that took place in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government of Edo State. The attack, which targeted four banks and the local police division, resulted in the loss of lives, including two police officers and five civilians.
Osagie conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the entire community affected by this heinous act of violence. He expressed deep concern about the security situation in Edo State, emphasizing the need for urgent and comprehensive measures to curb such criminal activities.
In a statement issued to BBC Pidgin, Osagie stated, “The news of the armed robbery attack in Uromi is deeply disheartening. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, and I extend my sincere condolences to the affected community. It is regrettable that innocent lives have been lost in such a senseless act of violence.”
He called for swift and thorough investigations to ensure that the perpetrators of this crime are apprehended and brought to justice. Osagie urged the security agencies to reinforce their efforts in providing adequate protection to citizens and financial institutions across the state.
“The security and well-being of the people are paramount, and it is crucial that we enhance our security apparatus to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. The LP governorship aspirant also urged the government to address the root causes of criminal activities, including unemployment and poverty, to create a more secure and prosperous environment for the people of Edo State.
