Ondo APC House of Representatives Caucus Urges Tinubu’s Intervention Amid Allegations of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Disdain for Late Akeredolu

In a recent development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus in the House of Representatives from Ondo State has penned an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, expressing concerns over Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s alleged lack of regard for his deceased predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Following the demise of Governor Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, Aiyedatiwa, the former deputy governor, assumed the role of governor. The letter, signed by six federal lawmakers, highlights their apprehension regarding Aiyedatiwa’s purported animosity towards Akeredolu and his perceived indifference to the party’s well-being in the state.

The caucus leader, Hon. Adesida, conveyed the urgency of the situation during a press conference in Abuja. They called on President Tinubu to intervene promptly, expressing fears that Aiyedatiwa’s actions might lead to electoral losses for the APC in the upcoming 2024 governorship poll in Ondo State.

The lawmakers pointed out several decisions made by Governor Aiyedatiwa that, in their view, demonstrate his disregard for Akeredolu’s legacy and the party’s unity. They cited Aiyedatiwa’s associations with political adversaries of the late governor and his alleged alignment with the opposition party.

Among the concerns raised in the letter are the appointment of a known political adversary of Akeredolu as deputy governor, Aiyedatiwa’s association with disgruntled political figures, and his purported attempts to diminish Akeredolu’s achievements.

The letter also highlighted controversial decisions made by Aiyedatiwa, including the dissolution of local government structures and the alleged marginalization of the APC’s state chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin. The lawmakers expressed worries about the growing discord within the party, urging President Tinubu to provide decisive and unifying leadership to prevent Ondo State from falling into the hands of the opposition.

In conclusion, the letter emphasized the hope for the restoration of peace, prosperity, and unity within the APC in Ondo State, urging President Tinubu’s intervention to guide the party through this tumultuous period.
