PDP Urges Workers to Resist Anti-People Policies on International Workers’ Day

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on workers to stand firm against any actions that threaten democratic principles such as freedom, the Rule of Law, accountability, and probity in Nigeria. Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary of the PDP, made this statement while congratulating Nigerian workers on International Workers’ Day.

Despite facing challenging economic conditions caused by poorly executed policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, Ologunagba commended Nigerian workers for their resilience as the backbone of the national economy.

“Our Party is deeply concerned about the suffering endured by Nigerian workers and millions of other citizens over the past nine years,” Ologunagba stated. “The rudderless and insensitive APC administrations have wreaked havoc on our productive sectors, causing distress to our national life.”

The statement particularly condemned the ongoing increase in electricity tariffs and the price of petroleum products, with petrol now exceeding N1000 per liter in some parts of the country. This situation has led to a significant rise in the cost of living and exacerbated economic hardships nationwide.

“As the Party representing the people, the PDP calls on the APC-led Federal Government to address the concerns of Nigerians and reassess its regressive policies,” Ologunagba emphasized. “This Workers’ Day should serve as a catalyst for urgent action to improve the welfare of citizens.”

Despite the challenges, the PDP urged workers and all citizens to remain hopeful and committed to building a stable, united, and prosperous nation. “The Party celebrates the workers and wishes them a happy Workers’ Day celebration,” Ologunagba concluded.
