President Bola Tinubu made significant personnel changes on Monday, appointing new service chiefs and a National Security Adviser (NSA) to replace the outgoing officials. The Director of Information, Willie Bassey, speaking on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, announced the appointments in a statement issued in Abuja.
The statement revealed that the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, had been appointed as the new National Security Adviser (NSA), succeeding retired General Babagana Monguno. Additionally, President Tinubu appointed Major General C.G Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General T. A Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff, and Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff, Air Vice Marshal H.B Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff, DIG Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector-General of Police, and Major General EPA Undiandeye as the Chief of Defense Intelligence.
Furthermore, Adeniyi Adewale was appointed as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, replacing retired Colonel Hameed Ali.
The Director declared: “It is to be noted that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Comptroller General of Customs are to act in their positions, pending their confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, Advisers, Comptroller-General of Customs from Service as well as their replacements with immediate effect.
