President Tinubu Presents Minimum Wage Bill to National Assembly

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu submitted the Minimum Wage Bill to the National Assembly for consideration and passage. In letters addressed to both the Senate and the House of Representatives, the President urged for the swift passage of the bill, which proposes an increase in the National Minimum Wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000.

Additionally, the bill seeks to amend the National Minimum Wage Act, 2019, to reduce the review period for the minimum wage from five years to three years.

President Tinubu had previously agreed to the ₦70,000 minimum wage during a recent meeting with Organised Labour.

The proposed bill marks a significant step towards addressing wage disparities and improving the livelihoods of Nigerian workers.
