TRACE Warns Festive Drivers in Ogun Against Speeding and Recklessness

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has warned motorists against reckless and uncoordinated driving during the festive season to curb road accidents. The South-West Zonal Commander, Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, gave the advice on Monday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Ota, stressing that “life has no duplicate.”

Ajibade urged drivers to take adequate rest, particularly when feeling sleepy, and to seek safe places to stop if fatigued. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring vehicle components, especially brakes, are in proper working order and advised motorists to reduce speed, noting that “speed kills.”

Motorists were further reminded to obey traffic rules, avoid drunk driving, and cooperate with TRACE personnel and other traffic agencies to maintain smooth traffic flow during the holiday period. The warning comes amid the traditionally high rate of road accidents in Nigeria during the yuletide season, often caused by increased vehicular movement, fatigue, and reckless driving.
