In a shocking incident, suspected gunmen attacked and killed Alhaji Nafi’u Tambari Dagawa, the People Democratic Party’s (PDP) Treasurer in Yabo Local Government area of Sokoto State on Friday night. The assailants reportedly invaded Dagawa community around 2 am, targeting the PDP chieftain at his residence.
The attackers, who also abducted a newlywed couple for ransom, left several others in the community with gunshot wounds. The community is mourning the loss of the PDP treasurer, emphasizing his unfortunate demise despite his non-partisan contributions to the well-being of people in the area. The late Dagawa’s funeral took place on Saturday in his hometown, Dagawa, with a diverse crowd paying their final respects.
As of now, the Sokoto State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. Alhaji Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the PDP spokesperson in the state, has, however, confirmed the tragic event and the subsequent burial of the victim. The incident raises concerns about security and highlights the vulnerability of individuals involved in political activities.
