Lagos, Nigeria – Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced significant financial gifts and investments for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and support staff. This announcement was made during his address as the special guest of honour at the NYSC Passing-Out Parade/Closing Ceremony for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja on Tuesday.
Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed that each Corps member departing the camp will receive a farewell gift of N100,000. Additionally, he pledged a sum of N100 million for the NYSC support staff.
In a major development for the NYSC infrastructure, the governor also announced a N5 billion commitment towards the construction of a permanent site for the NYSC Orientation Camp in Lagos State.
“This year alone, I will be putting available a total of N5 billion that will be used to start the full development of the permanent site for NYSC,” said Governor Sanwo-Olu.
He further detailed the immediate financial benefits for the departing Corps members, stating, “For this batch, we have 4,254 Corps members. With all sense of responsibility and because you have been very hardworking, each and every one of you will go home with N100,000. The money will be made available into your accounts by next week, and your directors will credit your account.”
This gesture is part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader commitment to supporting the youth and enhancing the facilities for the NYSC in Lagos State.
