In a recent development, the Kogi State House of Assembly has absolved nine of its members from the allegations of terrorism and warmly welcomed them back to their legislative duties.
Recalling the events, on March 24, 2023, the State Assembly had announced the suspension of Olusola Kilani (Ijumu), Bello Hassan (Ajaokuta), Muhammed Lawi Ahmed (Okene I), Moses Akande (Ogori/Magongo), Aderonke Aro (Yagba West), Daniyan Ranyi (Bassa), Atule Igbunu (Ibaji), Atachaji Musa (Idah), and Muktar Bajeh (Okehi) following a letter from Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello. The governor’s letter had referenced security reports, accusing the lawmakers of engaging in terrorism.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, the state House of Assembly officially exonerated the lawmakers, clearing them of all allegations. Consequently, the nine members are now expected to resume their legislative responsibilities without delay.
In response to the development, Kilani, the representative of Ijumu State Constituency, expressed gratitude for being cleared of the charges. He emphasized that his integrity remains untarnished, and he is committed to contributing to the continued progress and development of the state.
